04 May 2014 McDonald’s release the McNip burger
Last year, McDonald’s in Sweden launched McNiP, a burger dedicated to the world’s best Counterstrike team, NiP: Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The whole eSports community in Sweden rallied to make the burger a winner of McDonald’s unique MyBurger competition and it became such a great success in both the gaming circles and among the customers in general that McDonald’s is now relaunching the burger.
NiP was created in 2000 and is globally considered as the greatest Counter Strike team of all time. Team manager Emil “HeatoN” Christensen has been in the NiP organization since its inception and today the CS:GO team consists of the stars Christopher ”GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, Adam ”friberg” Friberg, Robin ”Fifflaren” Johansson, Patrik ”f0rest” Lindberg and Rickard ”Xizt” Landström.
“It is an honor to once again be part of McDonald’s menu with a burger dedicated in our name. We want to thank Joel Brix who came up with the idea for the burger, we want to thank our agency Clutch Entertainment for making this happen and we want to dedicate the burger to the whole eSports community.” says Emil Christensen, CEO of Ninjas in Pyjamas.
For almost a month – from 8 April to May 5 – gamers, fans of NiP and the whole eSports community together with all of the 435 000 Swedes who visits McDonald’s daily can enjoy eSport’s own profile burger, McNIP.
Gamers across the whole of Sweden flocked to McDonald’s the last time McNiP were on the menu, in the process making it the best selling burger of the MyBurger concept. Following the burger’s success it was logical for McDonald’s to launch the burger once again.
“We know there are many fans in the eSports world and that’s why it’s natural for us to support the team NiP who are incredibly talented. We focus on providing our guests what they want every day of the year and therefore it will be extra exciting to see the what burgers our guests come up with in this year’s edition of MyBurger. McNiP became a great favorite for many customers last year, so it was an easy decision to let it get back on the menu” says Kajsa Dahlberg, Head of Media & Digital at McDonald’s Sweden.
McNIP is made of 150 grams of beef in sesame bread with hot sauce, roasted onion, zucchini, bacon and melted cheddar.
